Net size calculator, by sport and by installation

Three shapes cover most sports netting: a goal net, a cage or practice lane, and a flat barrier run. Pick one, enter what you measured, and you get the developed net area panel by panel, in square metres and square feet, with the arithmetic shown.

Depth is not regulated, so it is never prefilled. The Laws of the Game set the width and the height of a goal and stop there. The front to back dimension is an equipment choice, and it is where most replacement net errors start. Measure both depths on the frame you actually have: a net ordered on width and height alone will not fit.

Fill in the measurements above to get the area.

This tool sizes the net, it does not choose the mesh

Mesh and twine follow the ball and the impact distance, not the surface area. Both are set out with their sources in our reference tables.
